At Turtle there has been discussion recently about how to find the time for students to learn and practice cursive handwriting. I created a Powtoon slideshow that students could use individually to get started with practicing a letter at a time. I found the cursive demonstration video on Youtube. The Youtube video went on to demonstrate each letter in alphabetical order. I liked that Powtoon allowed me to crop for just the part of the Youtube video that I needed for one letter. I can now make a Powtoon that includes a slide for each letter - time-consuming, but once done, could be used by students to move through the letters at their own pace.
I had difficulty understanding how to save and embed my Powtoon - thanks to Gina for helping me on Wednesday. I was worried that I'd have to start all over again. It took me about 3 hours to figure out how to use Powtoon and to set up each slide the way I wanted to.
Great idea to put use PowToon to teach cursive. If a student is having trouble they can watch the video again. They can also practice from home and parents can see how the letter is formed.
ReplyDeleteWow! Impressive, Hagen. Way to be a problem solver!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great! Way to be persistent! I bet the other letters won't take so long, and you will be a Powtoon expert by the end of the alphabet. :) I'm glad that you and Gina figured out how to embed this so we can all see it. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI like it, too. Handwriting is always overlooked.
