Activity #8

I'm jumping around a bit with the Activities.  I've been working with Google forms and am hopeful that the pre-assessment I made will be useful in my 3rd grade classroom. I created the 3rd grade place value pre-assessment based on the 3rd grade standard items found in SciMathMN.  I can use the same form to change the items slightly for monitoring and post-assessments. It will be interesting to see how the spreadsheet helps me to individualize instruction for students. If students can understand which items they have trouble with they can do some self-selecting for practice in IXL.  I included a video for them to learn from if they felt the assessment was difficult.  I can pinpoint whole class instruction based on items with which majority of the students have difficulty. I just hope I can remember how I made the form because it takes me a long time to figure out how to use each of the tools, apps, add-ons etc that we are exploring!

  1. I like your explanation at the top of your Form. That's something I want to get better at, explaining the purpose of the Form and including specific instructions. I also liked how you varied the question types. Google Forms is a pretty flexible assessment tool, so use it to its full potential. Maybe your screencast for activity 3 can be about how to make a form like this. Then you'll have your own how-to video for the fall! :)

  2. I think you will love how the spreadsheet gives you insight into each student's learning. I'm sure you're going to become a pro.

  3. I think Google forms will be so helpful in the TDAP process. Wondering if you had to put in the comma?
